Since the turn of 2025, I’ve been selecting an album from the collection to ‘wake’ up to, or at least play first in the morning whether on the way to work or whatever is happening early that day.

Choosing the October Album of the Month was a difficult decision to make with some albums from way back in the day mingling with others that have been added to the #collection over the past few years. Quite a few Scottish contenders too which made it even harder to select
There can only be one winner though and VLURE, with their debut album release #Escalate, gets the nod due to being from a young local band with a big future to look forward to

A few classic albums made it into the #AlbumOfTheDay selection during September but far too many fine memories from 1981 when Dare came out. The Human League with a classic album of the time. Still sounds good almost 45 years later

One of the first ‘punk’ LPs I bought in or around 1977. Still sounding pretty fresh all these years later.

#RaceAcrossEurope with Bronagh Bell
Listened to quite a few albums during July as we moved across Europe to see a number of bands.
Head and shoulders above all the gigs though was seeing Nick Cave play in the Pompeii Amphitheatre. Gig review here
Just him, #ColinGreenwood on bass and an amazing backdrop. An evening where Nick stripped back the music similar to what he had done on #IdiotPrayer.
Could really only be one album of the month for July!

June Album of the Month

June offered up another diverse range of albums for me to listen to during the day, but the standout album for this month remains my favourite The Bathers album Sweet Deceit
Chris Thomson wrote and recorded the album for release in 1990 and I was fortunate to pick up on the band way back then too. Ever since, the band have continued to record and play live and I’d thoroughly recommend going to see them.
Standout tracks for me would be Desire Regained and The Idyl Off Crown Circus
Sit back, relax, put the headphones on and enjoy!

April Album of the Month

The Murder Capital also played at St Lukes during April and the gig review can be found here

February Album of the Month

Find out why the Win album was the favourite selection for February here

January Album of the Month

Over the past month I’ve selected an album each morning from the collection to kick start the day and posted it on Facebook. Some eclectic selections which reflect my own music tastes now and in the past. #THROUGHTHESPEAKERS #LATESTALBUM
There can only be one Album of the month though and that accolade for January goes too…..

Shopping trips

If you’re ever around the south side of Glasgow then I can recommend a visit to this wonderful record shop.
A great selection of music and coffee while you browse too.
I’m sure Faye, Esme, Ellie or Liam will take good care of you as well.

Took a trip to one of my favourite record shops in Glasgow, Monorail Music, and came away with a few new albums to listen to. Even managed to grap two tickets for the Godspeed You! Black Emperor gig later in the year too.
Eccentric Soul No47 – Various Artists
Groucho Marxist Record Co:Operative – Various Artists
Drama of Exile – Nico
Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! – Godspeed You! Black Emperor
