Where has the last 10 years gone? I’m sure Ian Smith and all those who have been involved with Last Night From Glasgow during that time will have asked the same question.
At Cottiers everyone was there to reflect on the achievements of the Glasgow record label, the musicians who have found an outlet to produce music, the fan base who have found new acts to follow and a number of older, more established acts, who have found a vehicle to rekindle their earlier years in the business through re-releases and new work along the way too.
The core of the night was left to two of the newer acts who have found their way onto the LNFG roster, Brontes and Pearl Charles, both having recent albums released by the label.
They were followed by cameo performances by some of the acts who have shone brightly during these years and helped make LNFG what it is today.
Rather than command a few paragraphs about each act, and what they mean to me personally, have a look and listen to a selection of their videos below to see the breadth of talent that Ian Smith and his crew have brought to our attention. You won’t be disappointed.
I’m sure there will be many more birthdays to follow, acts old and new to listen to and enjoy. Congratulations to the label and everything it has done to keep music alive and vibrant.
